Your photos never leave your iPhone
Sweep looks through your library on your device to find what can go. Your photos, videos and contacts are never uploaded, and we have no servers that could receive them.

1. How Sweep Works With Your Photos
Sweep reads your photo library so it can show you what takes up space. Everything it works out — sizes, similar and duplicate shots, blurry or dark photos, documents and receipts, screenshots, screen recordings, which items are only in iCloud, and which saved images look like forwards or promotions — is worked out on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device frameworks. Your photos and videos are never uploaded, and we never see them.
Nothing is deleted until you confirm. Deletions go through iOS’s own confirmation and move items to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where they stay for 30 days. When Sweep compresses a video or turns a Live Photo into a still, it saves the new copy to your library first and then asks you to confirm before the original is deleted.
Checking whether an item is only in iCloud is done on the device with network access turned off for that check, so Sweep never downloads your photos to find out.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number or any account details — Sweep has no accounts
- Your photos, videos, their contents or what is in them
- Your contacts
- Your location or the places your photos were taken
- Usage analytics — we do not measure how you use the App
3. What Stays on Your iPhone
To pick up where you left off, Sweep keeps a small amount of data in its own storage on your iPhone: the items in your bin, your settings, your clean-up progress and streak, today’s free-plan counters, and caches of its analysis so later scans are quick. This never leaves the device and is removed when you delete the App. You can clear the caches at any time in Settings → Clear Sweep’s cache.
4. Contacts
If you use Duplicate contacts, Sweep asks for access to your contacts and compares them on your iPhone to find people saved more than once. When you merge, the details are combined into one card and the duplicates are deleted, on your device. Your contacts are never sent anywhere.
5. Reminders, Widget & Sharing
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. The home-screen widget shows your storage and clean-up figures, which Sweep shares with the widget only through storage on your device.
If you share a clean-up summary, Sweep creates the image on your iPhone and hands it to the iOS share sheet. It contains only figures such as how much space you cleared, never your photos, and it goes only where you choose to send it.
6. Pyxis Hand-off
Sweep can hand photos to Pyxis, our private photo vault app. To decide whether to offer this, Sweep checks whether Pyxis is installed and asks Apple’s public App Store lookup service whether Pyxis is available. That request contains no information about you or your photos.
If you choose Hide in Pyxis, Sweep opens Pyxis on the same iPhone and passes it the library identifiers of the photos you picked, so Pyxis can import them. Nothing is sent to us or over the internet.
7. Crash Reports
The App does not send crash reports to us. If you have turned on “Share with App Developers” in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share anonymous crash logs with us, as it does for every app. These contain no photos. We will update this policy before the App adds its own crash reporting.
8. Advertising
The free version of Sweep is supported by ads served through Google AdMob: banners on some screens, occasional full-screen ads at natural pauses, an ad when you return to the App, and optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch. Ads never appear while you are swiping through your photos. The Google Mobile Ads SDK is part of the App, and it — not Kavvara — collects data to serve and measure ads. According to Google’s own disclosures, that includes your IP address, device type and model, iOS version, approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you interact with ads.
The ads SDK never receives your photos, videos or contacts. We see only aggregate reporting, such as how many ads were shown. Sweep Pro removes advertising entirely.
9. Your Choices About Advertising
On iOS you will be asked whether to allow tracking across apps and websites, in accordance with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. If you allow it, Google may use your device’s advertising identifier to show more relevant ads; if you decline, ads still appear but are not personalised. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland you will additionally be shown a consent choice before any ad is loaded, and you can change that choice later in the App under Settings → Ad privacy choices.
10. Purchases
Sweep Pro is sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment, and your purchase is verified on your device by Apple’s StoreKit. We never receive your payment details, your Apple ID or your purchase history, and we do not use any third-party purchase service.
11. Permissions
Sweep asks for each permission only when a feature needs it, and uses it only for that feature: Photos to find and delete what you choose, save compressed videos and stills, mark favourites and add to albums; Contacts to find and merge duplicates; Notifications for reminders; and Tracking only to personalise ads on the free plan.
If you give Sweep access to only some of your photos, it works with just those. You can change any permission in the iOS Settings app.
12. Third-Party Services
These are the only third parties involved:
- Google (AdMob & UMP) —https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple (distribution, payments & App Store lookup) —https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
How Google uses information from apps that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
13. Your Rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Where processing relies on consent — as personalised advertising does — you may withdraw it at any time from within the App.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share your personal information.
In practice we hold nothing about you: Sweep has no accounts and your library never leaves your iPhone. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, please use Google’s own controls, linked above.
14. Children
Sweep is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
15. Changes & Contact
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be reflected in the App Store privacy details for Sweep.
Questions about this policy, or a request about your data, can be sent to hello@kavvara.com.
