Terms of Use

These Terms of Use apply when you use Pyxis (the “App”), published by Kavvara. By using the App you agree to these terms and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

They should be read alongside the Pyxis Privacy Policy, which explains what happens to data.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on devices you own or control, in line with the App Store’s usage rules.

You may not reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the App, resell or redistribute it, or remove or obscure any notices within it — except where such a restriction is prohibited by law.

We claim no ownership of anything you store in Pyxis. Your photos, videos, files and notes remain entirely yours. They are encrypted on your device and we cannot see them, so we do not license, analyse or use them for anything.

Your pattern and your 9-word recovery phrase are the only keys to your vault. If you lose both, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Keep your recovery phrase written down somewhere safe and private.

Some features permanently erase data by design: deleting a vault, emptying Recently Deleted, and the duress pattern, which erases every other vault on the device when it is used. Use them with care — erased data cannot be restored.

Keep your iCloud Backup on, or keep your own device backups, for anything you care about.

Pyxis is free to use, with limits on the number of vaults and files. Pyxis Pro removes those limits and advertising, and unlocks device sync, sharing, the duress pattern, Recently Deleted and alternate app icons. It is offered as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the App before you confirm anything, in your own currency, and are set per region by the App Store.

Free trial. Where the yearly plan includes a free trial, you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. A free trial is available once per Apple ID.

How auto-renewal works. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends, at the price for your selected plan.

Managing or cancelling. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple ID account settings, or from Pyxis under Settings → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the period you have paid for ends.

The lifetime purchase is a single payment, not a subscription. It does not renew and cannot lapse.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Apple processes every payment for Pyxis, and we never receive or see your payment details.

Restoring purchases. On a new device or after reinstalling, use Restore Purchases in Settings to recover what you have already bought. You will not be asked to pay twice.

The free plan is supported by advertising. You may optionally watch a rewarded ad to raise a free limit — for example, more files in a vault or an extra vault — up to the caps shown in the App. Watching one is always a choice, never a requirement.

Advertising is served by Google AdMob. What it collects, and the choices available to you, are set out in the Privacy Policy. Pyxis Pro removes advertising entirely.

Free limits, reward amounts and caps may change as the product develops. We will not reduce something you have already paid for or earned.

When you share a vault, anyone with the share phrase can open it within the limits you set. You are responsible for who you give the phrase to. Recipients can be prevented from exporting files, but no app can stop someone photographing their screen.

You can revoke a share at any time; once revoked, expired or used up, its encrypted copy is deleted from our sharing service.

Use the App lawfully. You may not use Pyxis to store or share content that is illegal where you live, or that infringes someone else’s rights.

Do not use the App to break the law, or to attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to any system, including our sharing service.

We may update the App, add or remove features, and change how things work. Where a change materially affects a paid entitlement, we will act in good faith and will not take away something you have already paid for.

Support depends on iOS versions that change over time; we may end support for older versions. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App or the sharing service.

The App is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will meet every requirement, or that it will be free of defects.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kavvara is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data — including data that cannot be recovered because a pattern and recovery phrase were lost, or that was erased by a feature designed to erase it.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your statutory rights are unaffected.

If these terms change, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.
